Elements

NRP is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), an evangelical, Reformed, denomination of over 300,000 believers. The PCA's representative form of church government is rooted in its name — "Presbyterian." Local churches are governed by elders (presbyters) who are elected by the church members. This form of government extends through the regional presbyteries, which facilitate connectionalism, to the national General Assembly, which expresses PCA's connectionalism and the bond of union between/among all the churches.

Facts

We are among the smallest of the PCA presbyteries, but contain some of the PCA's oldest and newest churches. The first church, Kanahwa Salines PCA, was established in 1819, and the newest, Redeemer PCA, was established in 2006 [1]. The NRP was organized on June 22, 1974 at the Kanawha Salines Church in Malden, WV. The NRP was the first PCA presbytery to hold a meeting north of the Mason-Dixon line — a special meeting in Akron , OH [2]. NRP boundaries include all of West Virginia except for the counties of Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson [3].

We are sponsors of the Marshall University chapter of Reformed University Fellowship, one of the newest RUF chapters in the nation.
